Dr (MC) Kouamé Kan Jean

Dr Kouamé Kan Jean is a leading Ivorian expert in geomatics and Earth sciences. As Director of CURAT since 2017, he leads one of the most dynamic centres of excellence at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University, dedicated to satellite-based environmental monitoring and the training of specialized professionals for West Africa.

Biographie

Dr Kouamé Kan Jean is Director of the University Center for Research and Application in Remote Sensing (CURAT) at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

As a specialist in remote sensing, GIS, environmental intelligence and hydrogeology, he contributes to the development of Earth observation applications for natural resource management, territorial analysis, environmental monitoring, climate-sensitive planning and sustainable development.

His scientific and institutional work is positioned at the intersection of geospatial technologies, environmental sciences, hydrogeology, digital mapping and applied territorial intelligence. Through CURAT, he contributes to training, research, innovation and the use of satellite data to better understand territories, monitor environmental change and support decision-making.

Within the SIRAGA Forum, Dr Kouamé Kan Jean brings a strategic perspective on remote sensing, geospatial analysis, environmental intelligence, natural resources, water systems, climate resilience and the role of Earth observation in Africa’s technological sovereignty.
